Anna Schubert Receives 2026 Healthcare Scholarship
Sixteen years ago, Jensen Optometrists established an annual scholarship program awarding $500 to a Grinnell High School senior planning to pursue a college degree in the health sciences. Jensen Optometrists is proud to announce Anna Schubert as our 2026 scholarship recipient. Congratulations, Anna, and best of luck in your academic journey!
Anna Schubert, daughter of Eric and Bobbye Schubert, will attend St. Olaf College, where she plans to study nursing with the goal of becoming a neonatal nurse. She hopes to continue her education to become a nurse practitioner, allowing her to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and their families.
Throughout high school, Anna has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to leadership, service, and academic excellence. She is deeply involved in her church, where she faithfully volunteers every Sunday operating the audiovisual system, including microphones, soundboard, cameras, and livestream production. She also serves during special services such as Christmas Eve, weddings, and funerals. In addition, she has helped lead Vacation Bible School for the past two years. Beyond her church, Anna has volunteered with the middle school debate team, mentoring younger students.
Anna's school involvement has been equally impressive. She participated in debate for four years as a varsity debater, earning the title of State Debate Champion and receiving multiple Outstanding Speaker awards. She competed in large group speech for four years, earning several All-State nominations, and participated in Model United Nations for two years, where she was selected to attend the prestigious Muscatine Conference. She also performed in the high school musical for two years, served as a class representative on Student Council, and was an active member of the marching band for four years, serving as a section leader and soloist for two years. Additionally, she competed in solo and ensemble music contests for four years, consistently earning Division I ratings.
Anna's dedication to serving others, strong work ethic, and passion for healthcare make her an outstanding recipient of this year's scholarship. We are honored to support her as she begins the next chapter of her education and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in the nursing profession. Congratulations, Anna!
