Children are at greatest risk for eye damage due to UV light

Picture
It's critical that children aged 0-18 wear sunglasses! 80% of lifetime sun damage to the eyes is obtained before age 18. UV exposure can lead to photokeratitis (sun burn on the eye), early cataracts, and skin cancer on the eyelids and surrounding skin.

1 in 5 preschoolers has vision problems that affect learning

School vision screenings are an excellent tool and often catch the severe cases but miss the mild to moderate cases. Periodic professional eye exams and early intervention are crucial to ensure children have the opportunity to develop the visual abilities they need to grow and learn.
